The questions to ask yourself when choosing a colour are:
- Is this colour relevant for more than one season?
- Does this colour suit you?
- Does it help you to solve/conceal your potential problem zones?
- Does it help you to create a complete look or a variety of looks?
If you can answer yes to 3 questions, then you picked the right colour.
Looking through the colour trends is one of my favourite things because it sparks creativity and visualisation for me. I love colour; I think colour is a great “pick-me-up” and is a great tool for when you want to create a memorable or a “stand out” look. It is also great for situations when you don’t have much time to create a special outfit or even apply makeup. Putting on the right colour can boost your confidence in any situation, day or night.
So, what are the swimwear colours trending in Spring/Summer 2024? And how do these palettes reflect our current living?
In the Global Colour Forecast for S/S 24, WGSN details that the current colour trends will reflect a period of adjustment to rapid social and technological changes with ongoing economic, political, and environmental uncertainties. This period will be shown through 3 colour palettes:
- Firstly, in a world where physical and digital realities blend seamlessly, colour choices will be influenced by an ability to transition easily between these different environments. The growing meta economy will introduce a wide range of colours in the virtual world, emphasising the popularity of clean, bright, and chromatic hues. (WGSN, 2022)
- Secondly, there’s a renewed emphasis on restraint and practicality, leading to the importance of foundational mid-tones and neutrals. These colours connect with evolving lifestyle choices centred around rest and balance and align with reductive and regenerative design approaches. (WGSN, 2022)
- The last palette will reflect the rising influence of the Caring Economy, recognised by governments, businesses, and communities, which is reflected in soft-tinted pastels and warm brights. These colours communicate a caretaking mindset, creating a sense of calm and affection. (WGSN, 2022)
